Green smoothies have definitely made a name for themselves in the health industry, but green is not the only healthy smoothie color. My dark purple smoothie is delicious and packed with energy boosting nutrients guaranteed to have you ready to seize the day.
One of the most powerful ingredients in this smoothie is Spirulina. The benefits of consuming Spirulina are amazing. Head over to Wellness Mama for more details on the health perks of this plant. To be fair, it’s not a great tasting product. I like to add it in small amounts to smoothies where the fruity flavors can mask the Spirulina. If you’re brave, add more! Eventually your taste buds will begin to adjust to the new flavor.
2 cups of cherries
1 cup of spinach
1 cup of pineapple chunks
1/2 cup of pineapple juice
1/2 teaspoon of Spirulina powder
Add water as necessary

This smoothie turned out great for me! It tastes very similar to prepackaged drinks I’ve tried before. The plus side is saving on cash and knowing exactly what’s going into my smoothie.
