Pre Workout: Heart Healthy Smoothie

With all of the exercising you guys are doing, it’s important that you fuel your body properly before workouts. There are many different approaches, but today I’m giving you an EASY and delicious green smoothie to have before you show your workout who’s boss!

2 cups fresh spinach

2 cups almond milk, unsweetened OR water (add more or less to get the consistency you want)

1 large apple, cored

1 banana

⅓ cup rolled oats

1 tablespoon coconut oil

1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Don’t be frightened by the spinach. You can’t even taste it once you add the other ingredients. For an extra boost of GREEN, add 1 tsp of Spirulina. Now, this baby has a strong flavor. If you’ve never tried it before, add a smaller amount (1/2 tsp) and slowly increase your dosage as the weeks go by.

Drink your smoothie about 30 minutes before you plan on working out. I would use this type of pre workout snack before a cardio session, not heavy lifting.
