Aloe Vera Beauty Hacks

Happy Saturday, Tribe! Today I have 5 of my favorite beauty hacks using aloe vera gel. I buy my gel at our local health food store. I use Lily of The Desert. It’s BPA free, organic, and contains 99% aloe vera. If you want to take the health notch up a little more, you can buy an actual plant and extract the gel yourself!

1. Make Up Remover

I don’t wear foundation, but I occasionally use eye makeup. It can be such a hassle to remove…especially water-proof mascara. An easy way to get your makeup off while promoting healthy skin is to use aloe vera gel! Simply add a drop to a cotton swab and gently swipe the makeup off.

2. Toner

I ran into some skin issues this winter, so I’ve been using aloe vera gel (when I remember) as a toner to help even out my skin tone. Add it to a cotton swab the same way as before and apply all over your face and neck. For some, aloe can work as a toner AND moisturizer. I like to finish with my favorite Rose Hip oil moisturizer.

3. Face Scrub

I recently posted two body scrub recipes. You can add aloe vera to those, and you can also make an easy face scrub too! In a small container, mix aloe vera gel with brown sugar. Gently rub it on your skin in small circular motions. Rinse with warm water.tumblr_lz8rocxEtt1qieyfc

4. Deep Conditioner

When I use aloe vera gel on wash day (#teamnatural), I can always tell a big difference in the softness of my hair. For an easy deep conditioning mask, mix 4-5 tbs of aloe vera gel, 3 tbs of coconut oil, and 2 tbs of honey. Apply the mixture from root to tip. Throw on a shower cap or deep conditioning hat. Allow the mask to sit for 20-25 minutes and wash your hair as usual.

5. Leave-In Conditioner

I’m also a fan of aloe as a leave in conditioner. After my hair air dries about 60-70% I add a little aloe vera all over. You can make a simple mixture with 4oz of aloe vera gel, 4oz water, and 10 drops of your favorite essential oil for a light conditioner.

I hope y’all enjoy these aloe vera beauty hacks! Give them a try, and let me know what you think. If you already incorporate aloe vera into your beauty routine, comment below and tell us how YOU use it 🙂
