My Favorite Supplements

Good afternoon, Tribe! This post is going to be a short overview of my favorite supplements. I don’t use very many, but I want to share the ones that I enjoy! I buy all of my supplements at our local health food store.

PROTEIN POWDER

I use this brown rice protein powder by SunWarrior. They keep it simple with only one ingredient. Although I prefer a vegan protein blend, I have noticed they’re much grittier than more traditional options like whey. I had to get accustomed to the texture (I’m weird about different textures of food), but I like it now. I don’t use protein powder every day. I get plenty of protein from my regular meals, but I like to add a little extra when I’m lifting heavy or I have a really long work day.

SPIRULINA

I’ve been using spirulina for a few years now, and I love it! Spirulina is a blue-green algae rich in B vitamins. Many claim it helps clear up acne prone skin and boost energy. I’ve grown to love it, but the smell and taste can be off-putting. I started out using 1/4 teaspoon. Now, I add about 1 tablespoon to my smoothie every morning. I’ve only purchased the NOW Foods brand, but many people like Pure Hawaiian too.

BARLEY GRASS

I’m new to the barley grass club. I chose to add this supplement into my regimen because of its iron content among many other vitamins and minerals. The taste is much milder than spirulina, so I use a full tablespoon in my smoothies for this one too. I just started using it this week. I have no complaints!

BIOTIN

Biotin is a favorite of mine. I cut off *almost* all of my hair about three years ago. It’s grown back healthier and stronger than ever. There are many factors that play into this (separate post), but I think biotin helped! I’ll use it for about 3 months, take a few months off, then start again. I give my body a break because although it’s “healthy” supplements are still processed goods. I just don’t want to overdo it.

B12

When I first became a vegetarian in 2014, I didn’t know how to properly fuel my body with that lifestyle. I wasn’t getting enough B12, so I decided to supplement. I started with a capsule, but I’ve recently switched to the liquid form. I like it much better (not a fan of taking pills). The liquid form also seems to give me more energy. Be sure to follow the package instructions for use and storage.

I hope you guys enjoy this post! Supplements aren’t for everyone, but if you want to try some things out I think you’ll enjoy these products. As always, be sure to consult your doctor before starting a new regimen.

Be safe & have a great day ❤
