What to Do When You’re STUCK in Life: Waiting for Your Moment

I saw this quote on Instagram, and it really resonated with me.
“I asked for strength & God gave me difficulties to make me strong. I asked for wisdom & God gave me problems to solve. I asked for courage & God gave me dangers to overcome. I asked for favors & God gave me opportunities. I asked for everything so I could enjoy life. Instead, He gave me LIFE so I could enjoy everything. I received nothing I wanted; I received everything I needed.” #life #lifelessons #strength #wisdom #courage #faith #journey #love #perspective #growth

Life really is a beautiful thing. There’s so much to see, so much to do. If you’re like me, you dream BIG. You try your best to live a life of purpose. Passion means something to you and it shows. But what happens when life seems to put your big dreams on hold? What should you do when you find yourself “stuck in the wilderness”? I won’t lie. Not long ago, I found myself crying, complaining, being a pessimist, blaming people for things that really had nothing to do with them. As much as I try to be a light in the world, every now and then I’m the problem! After having my pity party, I started getting it together and suddenly I could see my time in waiting hasn’t been a waste. It’s just preparing me for the great things to come! Today, I’m going to share my top tips for things to DO while you WAIT.

1. Look for Daily Miracles

Miracles happen every day in life. We get so caught up in our monotonous routines and keeping “busy” that we just don’t notice them. Take time to rest in the present moment. Actively seek out the good in every situation no matter how gloomy it may seem on the surface. There’s always a blessing in the storm. When you train your mind to think this way, eventually it comes naturally. You’ll notice your attitude and perspective change even when the situation doesn’t.

2. Get Ready

While you’re waiting for things to change in your life, take this time to LEARN. Work on increasing your knowledge related to your passion. Become an expert at what you love to do. Preparation is key. If you stay ready, you don’t have to get ready. There will come a day when your moment arrives. Don’t get caught unprepared and set yourself back. You were made for this. Work hard to keep yourself ready. Read a book. Find a mentor. Volunteer and give back using your gifts and talents. Hone your craft.

3. Practice Patience & Stillness

It’s hard to do, but it’s necessary. Periods of waiting should teach you patience, but it also takes some deliberate practice. Stop overbooking yourself. Say NO sometimes. Quiet your mind. Breathe, relax, and spend time with yourself in stillness. While you’re waiting for your breakthrough, there are many things life will teach you. Often we are so anxious to move forward that we delay our own progress. After much time fighting the process, I’ve finally come to realize that you can’t move forward until you learn the lessons that are meant for you. Instead of “making a way” on your own & attempting to force things to happen, BE STILL. Listen to God when He speaks to you. Take notes. Learn the lessons this season has come to teach you.

4. Be Content

Contentment doesn’t mean you’ve given up on your dreams. This doesn’t mean you’re quitting. Being content in all situations is a sign that you understand this is only a season in your life that will pass. Contentment means you are CHOOSING to be positive and make the best of your circumstances while they last. Everything in life isn’t going to be rainbows and butterflies. Tragedy hits, heartbreak happens, and GROWTH is just uncomfortable! Through these times, let your mind be at peace knowing this too shall pass.

I hope these tips are helpful! Try them out the next time you feel stuck in life. Who knows…things might start flowing sooner than you expected.

Bless up,
Erin ❤
