My Travel Noire Experience

Hey Tribe!

Let me be real for a minute. *clears throat*

I’ve been putting off writing this blog post for a few days now. I’m finding it very difficult to put such an amazing experience into words. It’s like ending a funny story that no one laughed at with “’d have to be there to really get it.”

Anyhoo, here’s my attempt!

Travel Noire is a digital publishing platform that creates tools and resources for the unconventional traveler. TN Experiences are authentically curated group trips. I booked a 7 day trip with Travel Noire, and it was the best decision I’ve made in a long time.

Instead of taking you through the itinerary day by day, I’m going to share the reasons I believe every black/brown person should experience this at least once.

My experience group was dripping in Black Girl Magic. There were 14 black women including our lovely Experience Designer, Cyndii, coming from all walks of life. Every single woman on this trip was inspirational. It was beautiful to watch the group come together, each person bringing something special to the table. Being a part of such a strong tribe was humbling. There was something to learn from and love about everyone- patience, confidence, courage, stillness, pure joy. On a personal level, the girls really inspired me to care less what others think and just live out loud & be confident in who I am.

If you need to hit the “refresh” button on life and have a moment to bask in the beauty of blackness and love…this is it.

During the trip, we all experienced growth individually and as a group. In the moment, you don’t always see it happening between the laughter and tears, but looking back…WOW. At our last dinner together, Cyndii suggested we go around the table and share something we are going to take away from the experience. To hear how each person grew in just 7 short days was amazing. No one left Bali unchanged, and that is a blessing.

I was reminded during our experience how precious life is. Every day we have a choice. We can choose LIFE. We can live and love freely. We can make our dreams come true. We can change the world. The best part is…it’s never too late to start.

TNEXBALI0209(DAY2)-14.JPGIf you’re looking for inspiration and growth, TN has got you covered. The last thing you may be missing is magic. To me, magic is the manifestation of love in the small things of life. Laughing until you cry, crying until you laugh, connecting on a spiritual level with a complete stranger, cheering on your friends as they overcome fears, watching an 80+ year old woman create with her hands, starting a soul train line in a village, singing in the rain, sharing feelings over a meal prepared by the hands of those you care for, skinny dipping after dark..

To some these things may not seem too special. For us, it was everything. It’s in these fleeting moments that the real magic happened. This is where love showed up. This is what changed us forever. We all have the ability to experience magic daily if we’re open to it, but TN made it possible for us to experience it together. In BALI. I still can’t wrap my mind around everything. It was just…magical.

I will never forget this trip or the beautiful people I shared it with. It literally changed my life. I thank God I followed my heart and booked the trip. If traveling abroad is something you’ve always dreamed of but never had the courage to do…this is the perfect way to get started! You’ll build meaningful relationships, learn more about yourself and a new culture, get comfortable with being uncomfortable, and have the opportunity to start on a new path in life.

To Cyndii & the girls, I love you all. Thank you for being who you are and sharing that with the world. I can’t wait for the reunion! Haha ❤

P.S. A huge shoutout to our talented photographer, Arley, who captured the magic in these photos.
