Happy Friday, Tribe!
I haven’t written a post about food in sooooo long, but there’s some knowledge you just can’t keep to yourself.
I love these three products because they help keep me healthy & naturally enhance my Black Girl Magic.
So let’s get into it!
Apple Cider Vinegar (ACV) has been in my life for many years now. We go way back to the days I was whipping up every DIY skin care recipe I could find. #mixtress Turns out one of those little recipes is still a favorite of mine! I use this face mask at least once a week.
When I’m not using ACV in a face mask or detox bath, I’m mixing it in a drink. One of my favorite recipes is right here.
Some ACV benefits include:
- promotes healthy cholesterol
- promotes healthy blood sugar
- has antioxidant properties
- improves nutrient absorption
- promotes healthy skin & scalp
Spirulina is a blue-green micro algae that’s FULL of vitamins and minerals essential to life.
My relationship with spirulina started off very rocky. It has a disgusting smell, something like fish food…and the taste isn’t much better. So we had to try out different methods before we were able to coexist peacefully.
My favorite way to incorporate spirulina into my life is simple now. I throw it in my smoothies. Citrus fruits help cut the taste too. With the right combo you can avoid the fish food taste but still get all of the green goodies. Gotta keep those goddess vibes strong.
Some benefits of spirulina:
- boosts energy & reduces fatigue
- improves immune function
- supports the heart, liver, and kidneys
- antioxidant properties
- reduces inflammation
Raw, unfiltered honey has so many health benefits, but we’ll get to that in a sec. First I want to tell you how I use it. My favorite recipe is good ole lemon honey ginger tea- hot AND iced. I drink it when I’m not feeling well or when I just want something delicious to go along with my new book. I’ve also used honey in DIY face masks, homemade hair conditioners, and on honey sriracha salmon. It’s a golden gem. The holy grail.
Raw honey benefits:
- source of antioxidants
- antibacterial and antifungal properties
- source of phytonutrients
- natural cough syrup
- promotes healthy sleep
- promotes radiant skin
